Dawlish Discussion

This was in the news yesterday.

I think it topical for Dawlish as we are to have lots of new development here, and isn't there a history of flooding at Shutterton Brook and the holiday camps adjacent to it?

Just wondered if any alteration(s) as to how drainage will take place on these Shutterton developments might increase the likelihood of flooding further down stream.

If anyone with technical knowhow about such matters should read this I'd be interested to know your opinion.    

@Lynne -  i worked at one of the caravan sites down there for several years and it always flooded every year. the water would be up to a foot deep or so  along the dyke wall. even with pumps on site the water still came up through the man holes. at the time the water company was aware of the extensive new builds in plan and advised they would not be increasing their facilities anytime soon. says it all really.
