Woke up sometime during the night and could hear what sounded like a low but continual rumbling noise. Couldn't figure out what it was.

Went to the front of house (facing east towards the Warren) could hear sea but not as loud as the noise I could hear in the house but at the back. Opened back bedroom window, facing west and towards the town. The noise was much louder and was deffo coming from that direction. Was it the brook in overflow making that much noise? It really was quite loud and was like a continual rumble of thunder.    

Perhaps there's a Dawlish hum, like the Bristol hum.
