Hi Dawlish folk, me un the Missus will be moving to Dawlish from Plymouth in the New Year. Just wanting some advice about some things please.
1. Is there a friendly farmer/landowner that does Caravan storage at reasonable rates?
2. Going to need a new Combi boiler so any recommends of local plumbers?
3. Best places to eat/drink and be merry?
4. And anything else a couple in thier mid-late 40s with an active dog need to know about the town and surroundings?

You'll certainly be welcome with your dog in all pubs - try them all and make your own mind up. The one we had least hopes for turned out to be our local. There are also plenty of walks and open spaces accessible on foot, and further afield by short car journeys - Mamhead Woods, Labrador Bay and Powderham are just a few. Get yourself an Ordnance Survey map for the footpaths and go and explore. I'm sure you'll find it's a beautiful area.
AFAIK Lady's Mile have stopped doing caravan storage, but if you know different Roberta then fine.
We had a lot of trouble finding somewhere to store ours, and ended up on a farm at Humber (by the Red Rock brewery) which wasn't ideal because it's quite a tricky tow up to there. Can give details if you PM me; but it was 5-6 years ago and they may not do it now.

plumbers - some recommended here so far are expensive get quotes!
social life - there are a few clubs ie british legion, rafa club, conservative club all serve cheap beer! Quite a few nice eateries depending on what you like!

another question, to get on M5 do you go via Starcross or onto the A380?
During the summer the Starcross road can be very slow and the road up to Countess Wear gets busy at peak times but it's probably the most direct route in terms of distance. I vary it. Luscombe Hill, Ashcombe Road and Mamhead Woods are all very picturesque routes but with the first two you sometimes have to reverse to let oncoming traffic pass in the narrow lanes.
