I`m afraid that I have to report the sad demise of the Dawlish Webcam from next month. It was a brilliant webcam, and due to the hosts of the webcam selling up and moving on, It will be no more. The operators of the webcam are looking for a new location to put It so hopefully It will be up and running again soon. So make the most of it while you can. crying

In the first instance a mains power supply, space for a computer, and broadband connection are required.  The camera must be connected by a cable to the computer. And a location along the sea wall in Dawlish/Dawlish Warren is really what is required.

Anyone know anyone who might be able to help out?

Just a update on the Dawlish Webcam. There Is a message on the webcam wanting people to host this Webcam. All you have to do is be in full view of the railway line whether its Dawlish or Dawlish Warren It does not matter. They have  Facebook and Twitter page.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the posts re our webcam. I am Jamie Rowley, an administrator on Railcam, and can only echo the sadness of the news that we are to lose the location in January. We are looking at every option to save the cam, including contacting various parties via Twitter and general appeals via both Facebook and Twitter.

I am not the technological brains behind the operation, but a brief overview is as follows,

We have the equipment ready to set up and run should we find a location. We will be storing this in Dawlish until we find a new location.

as mentioned by @Lynne we need a power supply, somewhere to house a small computer, uncapped broadband connection, and the camera will need to be wired to the computer, so the smaller the distance between the two would be ideal.

Ovbiously we require a clear view of the railway, as that is our primary objective with Railcam, but as you will know there is a big following for the 'lively' seas you get down at Dawlish, plus the wonderful airshow.

You can contact Adrian direct at adrian_bradshaw@yahoo.com or via our Contact email address at contact@railcam.org.uk

Thanks again for your kind words and we have everything crossed that we can #SaveDawlishCam

Jamie
