Saw this on the web site www.rightsandwrongs - posted on 27th Nov 2013. Did it make the slightest difference?

Friend-

In the next month David Cameron has a decision to make. Will he support pay rises for his peers as he has recently done for banker’s bonuses, or will he prove we’re ‘all in this together’ and refuse a pay rise to show they are willing to sacrifice like many have across the UK?

Over 160,000 of you have signed my petition to ask David Cameron to refuse the 11% pay rise for MPs.

Having read through all the petition comments it’s clear this has become a symbol of how unhappy we are with the current government and the crippling cuts and changes to policy, mostly unreported by the mainstream media.

A pay rise of this size (11%) is the salt in the wound for disadvantaged people who haven’t had a pay rise in years. Some of these people are receiving pay cuts, or worse, redundancy.

We’re 160,000 strong now. Imagine if we all got three people to sign this petition, imagine how big we'd be. We need to show David Cameron that there is huge public opposition to the pay rise.

Help us get there -- please forward the email below to tell at least three people to sign this petition.

Many thanks again for your support.

Hi,

I'm supporting Tanya’s campaign calling for David Cameron to stop the 11% pay rise for MPs.

A pay rise of this size is the salt in the wound for disadvantaged people who haven’t had a pay rise in years. Some of these people are receiving pay cuts, or worse, redundancy.

David Cameron is due to make a decision in the next few months. We need as many people as possible to sign the petition to show that the public do not support an 11% MP pay rise.

Please help us and sign the petition here: http://chn.ge/1i1MU0P

Thanks

This proposed pay rise wasn't awarded by MPs but by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority. All the 3 main party leaders have disowned the proposal and a lot of MPs have promised to return any extra cash they receive.

@Mrs C - with respect, but do you really, hand on heart, believe that the ipsa is truly independant ?  i remeber the last time that the mp's took a four year pay freeze to appease the electorate and at the end of it voted themselves a 50% pay rise.

IPSA or not you watch the mp's keep every penny of their ipsa decided raise. don't they just deserve every penny for the great position this country is in, not.

OLDFART: There's a bit of light reading available on the IPSA website, which I believe demonstrates their independence. Have a read and then you too can come to an informed conclusion either way.

I've viewed your posts on various threads and wonder whether you are Mr C our Mrs C. You are very a very controversial contributer and so is your great supporter who always congratulates you after a post especially when it comes down to immagration matters (he's Eastern European I guess.) and couldn't practice the same feeedom of speech in his own country without being abused or arrested.

Democracy is a great freedom which all should be entitled to in the free world.........................we are not in this country ! those that come here from other countries are trying to tell us that we should accept multicultrilism andcthey are here for a better life etc, etc,  PC demans and to dissent is racism.

No wonder you are in favour of paying this bunch of parasites an £8000 pay increase, it's probabaly your pay back time?

Labour, Conservative, Liberal they all tow the PC line because we have gone past the point of no rerurn in terms of our National identity only UKIP tell it how it is.

You may be gratefull for whom is representatiuve of the electorate these days ........... I for one am not. I wonder how many lobyist have contacted IPSA recommending a pay increase, it's probabaly the same who lobby for unlimited immigrant workers to be in our care homes.

Goldenlad, or is it Goldenlady (see how bizarre that is?), your rant is typical of your UKIP, in that it's ill-informed, misrepresentative, sensationalist and of course hysterical. I've just viewed your posts since your first one about a certain pub, sorry but they all bored me.

Where did I say I was in favour of giving MPs the 11% payrise?

This from Anne Marie Morris on Twitter: "I will ensure that I do not personally benefit from any MP pay rise after 2015. Independently set & cannot be justified."
