Just been talking to a lady who went down and bought a ticket to catch the 11am train to Exeter on Saturday when the train arrived with two carriages they were already full and everyone was told to wait for the 11.53am.
When the 11.53am arrived that was also full. A lot of very angry people including men going to see a special Rugby match, When asked what time the next train was due they were told not to bother to wait because they wouldn't get on that and just get your money back.
If that Is true then this young lady should complain to FGW customer complaints section.E-mail address is on FGW website look for contact us and I believe Its at the bottom. Trouble Is Its 2 carriages, they should put 4 on at least. Especially on a Saturday.
Further to my last post but I have checked and there is one at 11.35am as well as 11.53am on Saturdays. And it ran normally. That reminds me I have got to get a new timetable.
I too went down to catch the 11am train to Exeter, with my two daughters; I brought our tickets and waited to catch the train. When it arrived the train was only two carriages long and was full, we were also then told that we could not get on and to try the next train which was at 11;53am. We went for a coffee and came back to catch the next train, only to be told again that it was full and they were letting no one on! When I spoke to the train guard and told him that we were told the same thing an hour ago,his reply was that we should go and ask for a refund, as we were unlikely to get a train to Exeter that morning as all the train will be the same!! Come on First Great Western get your act together; It's a Saturday, it's nearly christmas and Exeter Chiefs were playing put on more carraiges !!!!

@ Thanks wondering for correcting me but I was going by the FGW Network Timetable. The PDF version online from FGW website shows them running as normal. Spend £4 and you get a incorrect version, the free one Is correct. Its not even In the supplements. Thanks again wondering.
You're welcome. The little pocket leaflet does not show the London trains, so people sometimes think there is less trains than there really is. So get the booklet at the station showing all..
If people aim for the 1036 on Saturday that is a London train and plenty of carriages..
@wondering. the 10.36 am train is for manchester piccadilly. if people get on that train, which has 4 or 5 carriages, then change at exeter st. davids they can get the 11.06 am to london paddington, which has 8 carriages. platform 5.
