@TaylorJack913 I completely agree with your opening post. However some people come just for benefits, but to be fair most of them are very hard working. Also some don't seem to respect our ways, e.g. Muslim women want a women only swimming pool, fine build one, but you can't come here and expect to kick men out of their own pool.

Basically you can come to our country if you want to contribute and at the same time improve your life. We will respect your culture and you must respect ours.

Intergration is the word, which a lot dont do. People have been living here for years and still dont speak our language or respect our values, but they want us to accept theirs. Until that truly happens harmony is hard. Taylorjack what amazes me is how you have gone from what appeared to be an illiterate lout to a grammarly correct persona overnight.wink

The British public know full well what all this immigration is all about that's for one thing and one thing only,  housing and benefits. I don't have a problem with anyone coming here legally provided thay can support themselves for a certain period of time and pay into the system. Let me explain how it works in the USA as this happened to me when i was first allowed entry into the US on what they call a ( Green Card ) essentially what that meant was that i could work in the US and could not take out citizenship for ten years, which i eventually did.

I was informed that as a ( Green Card holder ) i was not allowed to apply for ANY benefits whatsoever. Also had to prove that my then wife and i had the means to support ourselves. We had to survive on very little money. During the first few years it was hard, and through hard work and building up some sort of credit rating we were able to be granted our first mortgage there. After the first five years I worked for a retail store on a commission basis only, it was a very topsy turvy time. Then i got a better postion at a much larger retail company called Bloomingdales of which i worked for 25 years. I had savings taken out of my paycheck every week. So what's my point you may ask? answer is that i worked and intergrated into the community which was a foreign country albeit English speaking and different customs.  I know that all this doesn't make a lot of sense to some people, but my point is anyone being allowed into the UK should not be allowed in if they can't support and take care of themselves not to be given everything in benefits. There are many people in this country that have to pretty much beg to get benefits in order to live, these people that are about to converge on this small island will be given everything they want. And I for one can understand the resentment that the British people have with someone next door being given benefits when the person next door goes to work each and every day to make a living wage that is often less than the people next door earn more on benefits.

I think Paul and myself are on the same page.

Thanks.

Totally agree with you Brooklyn Bridge, that is the sort of attitude we actually need.  People coming here to make a better life for themselves, well I have very little problem with that.  People coming here to take advantage, to refuse to integrate, to demand this country changes its traditions and even laws to suit their own versions of it, then no thanks.  Just look how Christians etc are persecuted in Muslim countries, compare that to the Sharia law gangs going around Tower Hamlets in London demanding people obey Sharia law rather than the actual law of the land and threatening violence if they aren't obeyed  - isn't it strange how the allowances always have to be made by those of us born here and not by those coming to live here?

Saw a piece on the news the other night that had me laughing out loud.  It featured a city somewhere in the North of England (can't remember which off the top of my head).  They were talking about the large number of Roma people living in one particular area.  All the people they interviewed complained about these people coming to the UK, phrases like "there are too many of them over here", "they need to stop trying to change how we do things" were spoken again and again - and who was saying this?  Well people who have clearly come to live in this country from overseas.  In fact it was mentioned that the large Pakistani population of the town were the most vocal in their complaints.  You really couldn't make it up!

And TaylorJack, seriously do you think ANYONE believes you were hacked and those weren't really your posts when you were being so offensive and pathetic on other topics?

Just to repeat a post from another thread:

University College London recently published a report on the contribution of immigrants to this country since 2000.  In summary:

"Migrants coming to the UK since the year 2000 have been less likely to receive benefits or use social housing than people already living in the country, according to a study that argues the new arrivals have made a net contribution of £25bn to public finances.

People from European Economic Area countries have been the most likely to make a positive contribution, paying about 34% more in taxes than they received in benefits over the 10 years from 2001 to 2011, according to the findings from University College London's migration research unit. Other immigrants paid about 2% more than they received."

There's a fuller description on http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2013/nov/05/migration-target-useless-experts

Unfortunately blind prejudice is still all too common.

If immigration is so beneficial to the country why don’t we just let lots more come in?  Of course any sane government would also consider the economic and social consequences of large scale immigration.  All the newcomers have to be housed, require medical care, schools for their children and jobs.  I think we already have plenty of problems in those areas as it is.

And then there is the little issue of the last Labour’s government’s pre-planned, cynical attempt to change the face of Britain forever, using mass immigration as the tool, with a side-dish of bile to “rub the Right’s nose in diversity”.

No doubt those on the Left will still consider this policy was a good idea.

The problem is a large proportion of the British public are racist in one way or another and the reason they dont air there views is the threat of prosicution from the miriad of laws we have to protect minority groups.  So there is a wave of discontent boiling away and at some point the lid will blow of and we will have widespread rioting and civil unrest across the country.   Now the problem has been brewing for 10 or 20 years and political parties of all colours are unable for some strange reason to get a grip on imigration so if we carry on the pot will boil over.  A favorite of mine is when you are debating the problem in public and folk always say the same thing I AM NOT RACIST BUT and then they air their views.

So getting the gist here now. Anyone having a negative view on uncontrolled imigration is to be branded a racist, therefore every citizen of Austrailia, New Zealand the USA and several others are racist. Along with the French for banning the burkka etc

If thats the case then I can only think of one thing in reply.

Maybe the RACIST party should stand at the next election and stop being scared of the brand name. The Gays have come OUT along with other groups I cant think of  so why not the Racists

The real truth is I think you would find are the RACISTS form the majority at the moment so as Leatash has just mentioned we could be in for a spot of bother

Most of the population is tired of walking on egg shells and why should we.  Do we have freedom of speech i dont believe we have,  yet some minority groups seem to have as they spout verbal threats to the Police and others while burning our national flag.  I wonder if i as a white British male did the same outside of a Police Station if i would get away with it.

I would think you would be arrested for waving the national flag outside some Police Stations as it is posibly a racist action or certainly a breech of the peace. Incidently dont try sticking one on your taxi especially in Teignbridge as it causes offence.
