I've just heard that there is no more funding for the trees for Woodland Trust for at least the next two years.  This seriously affects community projects which are being encouraged to plant trees for ecological and environmental reasons.  The government is being petitioned to rectify this position.  If you want to add your name to the petition go to the following link.

NEILH: The Woodland Trust is a charity, employing 300+ people by the way, so what is the source of the funding that you state is disappearing?

@Mrs C  This is funding that had been available through government grants.

"After 2014 there will be no new grants available, for at least 2 years. There is no clarity as yet on what might happen after 2016.

The Woodland Trust is demanding that Defra unlock funds to provide interim funding measures as a solution to this serious problem. The good news is that the Government already recognises the enormous benefits trees and woods provide - we should be knocking on an open door. "
