Dawlish Discussion

Teignbridge District Council are needing to save more money and to this end they are looking at how the public toilet provision within the district can be revamped. Scroll down this link to find more info.

With regard to Dawlish and the Warren the following is the suggested course of action:

Dawlish 

Retain the toilets at : Barton Hill, Boat Cove, The Lawn.

Surrender lease at; Sandy Lane

Dawlish Warren

Retain the toilets at: The Beach

Transfer/redevelop those in the Car Park  

So the poor coach drivers parking at Sandy Lane will have to either have to try and get to the lawn or hold it. Good move Teignbridge another reason to stop the coaches coming to the town.

Life is very simple if you want to retain services then pay more council tax thats how it is plain and simple.

maybe the solution is charge to use!!! in Torquay and many other places its cost me 20p to spend a penny lol.

Remember the saying "going to spend a penny" well there there is the answer. Pay on the gate terminal that uses tokens so as not to attract the thieving types. Local businesses could sell the tokens and the holiday makers could be given some in their welcome packs. The council are quick enough to install pay to park meters so why not pay to pee ones. Oh and just to be fair locals should be able to have a free issue on production of their council tax bill at the tourist information place.

Waterfowl, flower beds, tourist info office, crazy golf, the manor, library, bowling green, etc, it will all be gone one day.

Why not have a Local Tax on campers as they do in parts of France you just pay your camping fee plus a percentage that goes to the local authority.

Just the accommodation for 2 weeks for a 2+2 family at a Dawlish Warren caravan park starts at about £1000, then there is the travel, food and entertainment costs. Adding a tax on the visitors doesn't seem right.

Paul i only mentioned campers as in tents and touring caravans thats what applies in France.  I paid a set amount per week per person and the money goes to maintain services that tourists use and the locall residents in france provide and pay for.

Oh I see, so people will be used to it, could be the way to go then.

Paul Its not that i am against holliday makers its just we pay some of the highest utilities in the country so folk can come here and enjoy themselves.  It only seems fair that they make a contribution, i have also paid local tax in Spain and Portugal i wonder if other countries have local tax for camp sites.
