Re rural communities. When this policy was first put forward it was pointed out by the government themselves that it would have the greatest negative effect in rural areas. Those in the (social) housing profession also pointed out the negative effects both in rural areas and in urban ones.

By definition a rural area doesn't have much housing (of any kind). Therefore there won't be much, if any, 'spare' social housing for those impacted by the bedroom tax to downsize into.

I've said all this before.

Gawd knows where this MP's been living if he has only just realised the impact of the b/t in areas such as he represents.

Well.......it looks as though the penny has dropped amongst Lib Dem grass roots activists (as opposed to their coalition line whipped MPs?) that the bedroom tax policy is highly flawed.

Of course there is also the small matter of a general election coming up in just under two years time and they are presumably getting the message that they (the LDs) ain't too popular with quite a few who voted LD back in 2010.

Me? cynical?

And I would be extremely interested to see how the LDs suggest the housing crisis could be resolved.

Governments have to shoulder a lot of the blame too, spending money (they haven't got) like it's going out of fashion, and then we all have to pick up the pieces living with austerity budgets across the board for all public services.

PAUL I find it incredible that all conversations end up blaming the last goverment.  So looking at the wider picture and all the countries suffering austerity are all there goverments to be blamed.  It would take to long to list all those countries as most have problems.  So if we accept that we have a wordwide recession it would surely be obvious to any reasonably educated person that other forces apart from goverments have been at work.  Yes goverments have some part to play but the main culprits are the worlds banks.

Bet people put Labour back in power! .....'spend spend' and give more benefits to everyone, tax high anyone who starts a new business and employs staff.  They know how to do it lol...then five years later it has to be sorted out all over again!
