Fire appliances from Dawlish and Teignmouth were mobilised to a report of a fire in a first floor flat in High Street in Dawlish.
Upon arrival crews crews gained entry and rescued two persons from the flat who were suffering from smoke inhalation from a fire involving an electrical cooker.
They used breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, a covering jet, a thermal imaging camera and small tools to extinguish the fire.
Ambulance were also on scene to check the casualties.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
