I had left Dawlish May 15th for two months to go to the States. On my return Friday evening and at first clance i thought the Strand looked pretty good until i was outside the co-op and what a mess on the new pavement slabs and all the way up the Strand. Someone on here commented on the slabs when they were being laid as to the wrong choice of colour. If it looks the way it does now i would hate to think what its going to be in a couple of years. BLACK would have been a better colour choice.
Now i see all the new lights out on the Strand and the colourfull lights over Toms Plot are out. Who ever is in charge of this town needs to be fired. On talking to the new owners of the Ugly Duckling who are much nicer owners than before are trying to give customers an opportunity to sit outside and of course getting all sorts of objections from Teignbridge Council. I think the local authorities just don't want to engourage business. Ok so that's my moan for today.
What would have been the point in widening the footpath to make walking up the Strand easier and safer if the shops are allowed to put out tables, chairs, A boards etc thus obstructing it.
Teignbridge are spot on for once and should send the Blitz Squad to clear anything obstructing the new footpath on a daily basis.
On the other hand they should also pressure wash it off every morning. As for the new lights I told you they wouldnt be able to afford to have them lit all night.
Now FredBassett, are you telling me that the new street lights are not on becuase they can't afford it or are you talking about the brook lights past the bridge at Harrisons if so what a load rubbish.
If its rubbish why is the industrial estate and lots of other streets around the town in total darkness after midnight. Its not done for a laugh its done to save money.
So the lights are out because (they) can't afford it what about the safety factor. How about turning of traffic lights to save money. I would like to see where you get your information, or is it just local gossip which I think you may, just may relish in. However I do appriciate your point of view of which you are entitled to.
FB is correct; the street lights are turned off after midnight to save money (energy). There has been plenty of mention of this in the local papers so it's hardly local gossip.
Thank you, so much for some peoples knowledge or lack of, so easy to "relish in local gossip" wouldnt you say
