I was walking down the Strand this morning when I saw a van pull onto the pavement on the lawn side of the road completely blocking it and causing other pedestrians to step into the road to pass the van. The driver got out and duly proceeded to deliver the goods he had on board to various shops.
I didn't realize that the lawn side pavement was earmarked for delivery vehicles. I wish I had carried my camera with me!

It would'nt be because the loading bay was full of parked cars would it. That aside it looks as thought the photo is taken from an empty parking slot.

Should the driver now lose his/her job thanks to your posts, which incidently you could find yourselves in trouble for under some sort of privacy laws I hope you will all be proud of your actions. Typical Dawlish cant mind your own business because you obviously have to much time on your hands unlike the van driver.
I fail to see what privacy laws have been broken here, the driver blantantly infringed parking regulations in a very public place, and somebody took a photograph. If the driver gets into some kind of trouble that is his own fault for being so selfish in the first place. In fact, as most phones these days have a camera included, I think this kind of "naming and shaming" could well catch on.

Yes you can be prosecuted under the data protection act, as you are supposed to obscure the vehicle No plate unless you have permission from the owner before you publish such on public websites or newspapers
Nobody is going to get fired for parking on the pavement, at most, if this incident ever got back to his employer, he would get a slap on the wrist. If the driver can't abide by the rules then he shouldn't be doing the job. I would be interested to know the specific law which says it is illegal to post photographs of number plates in the public domain, because I don't believe such a law exists, if it did newspapers and tv stations would be prosecuted every day.
Data protection act 1998 with revisions 2003 detailing the use of cctv and other survailance equipment within the public domain. Useage and storeage of electronic images containing information of a personal nature including topics useable for identification purposes. Any records stored electronically also have to be deleated within 30 days

Utter nonsense. Show me the actual wording that says photographs taken in a public place which happen to contain a car number plate cannot be posted without first being blurred out. You cannot because it doesn't exist. You are making it up as you go along.

On strickly a commercial basis can we have this photo and maybe the entire post removed please as the forum is rapidly stooping to the levels of EOD which is a shame

Perhaps you should download and read the Data protection act for yourself seeing as everytime a legal statement is made on here you seem to know better. Its not about innocently posting a random photo in a public place its relating it to allegations of a criminal offence, something which only the Police are allowed to do. Get off your high horse and mind your own business.
FredBasset parking is no longer a criminal offence since parking was deregulated although the vehicle in question is obstructing the footway and that offence is dealt with by the Police, the other two offences can be dealt with by the parking enforcement officer.
Somebody posted a picture on EOD of a delivery van blatantly breaking traffic regulations, which was then reposted here , are you saying no offence was committed - it looks pretty clear cut to me. It's extraordinary that you appear to be condoning such an inconsiderate and unlawful act.
Sorry @FredBassett, I really don't see anything wrong with what @Sbooty has started here and what @Brazilnut has contributed to in this thread. The regeneration and the new strand are the things people are discussing at the moment and I don't want to censor or delete posts just because people disagree on things.
It wouldn't be much of a forum if people were not allowed to disagree...
Just sent an email to the company asking them to tell their driver not to do it , lets see what happens now.
