Oh great! next week is the major influx of grokelmania! lets all spend the day in the co-op queing to pay for overpriced milk and bread :-(
Simple. Move away then, at least people who holiday in Dawlish are happy which is more than can be said for so many Dawlish moaners.
I like ths new Coop.
90% of the people i talk to want sommerfields back The co-op now monopolises Dawlish & Teignmouth and as it is more expensive our carbon footprints will be even higher everyone I know is now getting in the car & heading for Tescos etc.
Queuing in co-op seems so much worse, peppers from Holland, beans from Kenya ... the staff seem more unhappy than 'usual' - shop online, its much nicer and sometimes you even get freebies!
Deal with the grockles, they aren't that bad!
If you didn't have the "grocles" coming to visit a place with nothing to do in the summer rain, a lot more of the towns people would be out of work and a lot more of the shops would be closing as the TOWNS PEOPLE" seem to refuse to buy from their own town! Just look at the ventures that have come and gone in Queen Street just in the past 18 months, lovely shops that left again because the LOCAL people won't put hand in pocket and buy more than a couple of pints of milk in their own town and it seems they can't even do that in a reasonable mood because they have to spend a little time in a queue. If you don't like co-op how about going to Costcutters or Bonne Bouche sell milk, there areother places why not use them?
Couldn't have said it better myself. You don't actually have to leave Dawlish for anything except for maybe some clothes shopping. You can get everything you need here. Ttry the greengrocers....their stuff is great quality compared to Co-op, and the bakers and there are several places you can get milk. Peaople just run off to Tesco spending extra petrol so you can get 3 loaves of bread for 99p or whatever.... People who want Somerfields back are probably the same saddos that moaned back then. If you want to live in a town with a supermarket, move. It's just a convenience store
Well said.
I used to have a shop, never again! .. one thing I hated so much was the 'begging' from Playgroups, School fetes, Carnivals etc for raffle prizes.. they had never been in the shop ever before, so when they said 'you must have something in stock you can give' .. my answer and one other shops should use is 'there cant be anything anyone here you would want because nobody in the town comes in!!! ..I was so pleased to have the holiday trade' Now I am online and is good to have no begging.
If Dawlish had a disaster like the awful floods in Gloucester and you could not get out of town, Coop and Cost Cutters etc would be expected to come up with the goods.
Positive thinking and smiling broaden your experiences.
If you choose to whinge, whinge and whinge again then your life and all you touch will be rubbish.
Smile (even though many, many people in Dawlish won't have a clue what you are doing) keep smiling because it will make your life better, sunnier and happier and it could possibly spread too. You just never know.
No I haven't taken drugs or had a labotomy. (that's a piece of the brain removed for those who didn't know. Not being patronising but it's not a word used much now and my kids didn't know what it meant until today)
People in Dawlish have a lot to be thankful for and if they became "grockles" elsewhere, (in there own country,) once in a while they may realise this!
What a derogatory word Grockle is without visitors seaside places would still be in the dark ages the co-op is a usless shop but dont blame the people who come here for all the misfortunes of Dawlish
Hope you never go on holiday and cause the local people to have to put up with queues in their shops when you go away your a Grockle
