This is a seaside resort, right?

So, why is it that the traditional key feature of a seaside resort - to wit - the beach, - is covered with rotting, stinking vegetation here?

Yes I know the real answer is 'photosynthesis', but why doesn't someone with a large wheelbarrow go and clear it up every summer morning.

Hey, it would make the beach look and smell nice. Yes, more seaweed would come in overnight, but then you go and clear that up too.

You could even sponsor the barrow 'This barrow is sponsored by Hockins'

So Councillors, you've all been sitting there raking in your fees for years, what say ye on this eminently common sense suggestion?

allmighty Emperor!!! Thank you for your great offer. I presume that you were offering to give up your day job and clear the seaweed every day in the summer. On the great wages that T.C.C pay i expect you will soon need a 2nd job also. Perhaps pooper scooping would be a great clean up job as well then both the beach and lawn areas would look and smell great. That is until some holiday maker put's in a complaint that these jobs should be done more often!!!

If they make me a fair pecuniary offer, I will do the job on a full time basis myself.

(I'll need a wheebarrow with a ball -not a wheel, and some kind of pitchfork.)

You see, o fellow oppressed proles, to make a practical civic contribution, one does not have to pursue the egocentric route of having the office-bound epithet "Councillor" as a solipcist prefix.

Can you also dispose of a few pigeons that live above the pathway between main and coastguards. I find them to be filthy scum vermin. You could try throwing the pitchfork at them.

Or maybe a small cat can be made to live in the wooden planks above. Hmmmmm?

Oh, and while you're at it, take a few seagulls out, too!

'if you are offering to clen it up i aint really bothered dawlish beach is pretty much crap any ways!'

Right. So there is a problem somewhere and because there are other problems as well you can't be bothereed to do anything about it.
No wonder Dawlish is in the state it is with attitudes like that!
