How about a Dawlish Webcam, that streams video live 24/7 over this website.

It could be placed outside Somerfield, in the ceiling of the library, on the bandstand....

..we could tell our relatives to go and stand in front of it......watch the sun rising over the beach. Monitor the swans.

...the possibilities are endless.

I'm sure there would be corporate sponsorship, and it would be really quite original.

We've had a webcam in the past on this site, but decided it was too much of an overhead to run. If the guys in the top flat of sommerfields are willing to host one then we can link to it - no problem (I know they are on broadband).

I think there is a webcam along marine parade used for surfers to check the surf. Don't remember the site name its linked to though.

how about asking the people in the bottom flat of somerfields they also have broadband

yeh right I can see that happening. can you imagine what would be on it!!!!!!!!
Still gives them another excuse to doss about.
