I have asked Devon County Council for an update on the work being done by the private owners to repair the wall at the bottom of Teignmouth Hill, and when we can expect the traffic control to be removed
I am told:
(1) More of the wall still needs to be taken down to complete the safety works and more scaffold to be put up.
(2) This means that it may take up to 3 more weeks to complete the immediate works and remove the traffic controls
(3) Once the immediate work is completed, Devon County Council will not allow any further works at the site to take over road space until the end of September, and then only after the contractors have provided a detailed programme of work that ensures the shortest possible disruption
It is absolutely disgusting how long this is taking and that they are being allowed to disrupt the traffic flow into Dawlish for this long. Days seem to go by with no-one working there and we have had plenty of customers tell us that they have been put off visiting our business in Dawlish from Teignmouth because of all the road holdups so it is not helping the local economy one bit and yet there will be nothing we can do because they are just being allowed to disrupt things as long as they like.
It was backed up real bad earlier.
Why don't they switch off the Pedestrian lights while the traffic control lights are in operation?
At least that way the traffic will have a chance to flow more freely while still giving people a chance to cross the road.
Just had a right ding dong with stagecoach 2 bus driver on the bends by the hairdressers. Could clearly see from his cab the traffic cued back from the temp lights to the Strand but carried on pushing through over the oncoming side of the road with nowhere to go thus blocking the whole road both ways. What an utter ignorant ArseH*** got his number and about to report him. May even claim damage to my car for being pushed over the footpath by him Stagecoach Wan****
