Following recent questions, I have asked Devon County Council for information on parking within time limited bays on the Strand by Blue Badge Holders (BBH)
It has been confirmed that the current TRO does not time restrict parking by BBH. It is possible to vary the order to introduce a restriction, and the situation will be reviewed to see if this is necessary
Anyone who has evidence that there is a problem should pass this information to the County Council for investigation
I applaud local govenments to allow people that may have some sort of disability free parking or limited parking. But as we know it's not always the person that has the disability driving the vehicle, is the name of the person displayed on the permit ? So what does a traffic warden do when she/he see's the driver is not disabled.
Just curious how it works in the UK.
Already have 6 months ago bringing to their attention the lack of parking when the works are complete. All you have to do is drive down the Strand 3 or 4 times a day to see the same cars parked in the same place all day all with blue badges whether they belong to disabled drivers is another question. It should be something the enforcment team looks at and i have mentioned it to them but again no joy.
Having just carefully read the sign next to a disabled parking bay in Northumberland Place Teignmouth. It quite clearly reads 2 hours maximum with no return.
Now assuming its TDC controlling both Teignmouth and Dawlish disabled parking, then there needs to be a like for like time restriction throughout or the system becomes open to miss-interpretation.
I think that time limit should apply in all areas where parking limits are timed ie: 9am-6pm otherwise we will find even less parking spaces
Disabled bays are 2hrs no return but FredBassett we are talking about pay and display bays.
Sorry I thought the blue badge itself had a 2hour restriction regardless of where it was being used, and that the sign over the disabled bay was just a reminder. Didnt they used to have a clock on them for that very purpose.
FredBassett you are correct and the reason was that they had to show the time they arrived ie on double yellows or at a pay and display bay. I have been visiting Ilfracombe today and there disabled badge holders are time limited in the pay and display around the town centre but have unlimited time in the main car parks. Devon county needs to look at the problem and act accordingly.
