Residents Parking

A brand new scheme has been introduced to provide subsidised parking in Dawlish town centre to encourage more residents to use the town. Residents or longer term visitors can buy an annual parking permit for £30 which allows free parking from 9am until 10am and 4pm until 6pm in all Teignbridge District Council car parks. New parking incentive – what do you think?

Teignbridge District Council is also looking into other options to improve car parking in Dawlish town centre, including a Parking Payback Scheme. It is hoping to provide a district wide platform to work with local businesses.

If businesses choose to be part of the scheme, they can offer reduced or even free parking to their customers, subsequent to a minimum spend in store or another incentive of the business’ choice. The Council is upgrading software so the ticket machines dispense two tickets, one to display in the car and one that could be presented to participating businesses for the shopper to take advantage of the Parking Payback Scheme. This is something that might also include on street parking in the future.

"The cost and availability of parking continue to be regular topics when talking about Dawlish town centre. Teignbridge District Council has been working on a variety of ways to keep the price of parking down whilst not losing out on the income needed to maintain other front-line services.

Parking Charges

Sunday parking will continue to be free over the winter only. From Easter until October Sunday parking charges will apply."

and this is what the newsletter says about parking on The Strand

"Once finished, there will be 20 parking spaces (including 2 disabled) along The Strand which will benefit from 30 minutes free parking. After 12 noon, there will be a further 6 spaces in the loading bay near Lloyd Maunders. In addition to these spaces, there will be 3 spaces for collection / drop-off outside the Co-Op. At the other end of The Strand, there will continue to be 5 spaces outside Café 1 with 1 hour free parking. The Strand car park will also be offering 30 minutes free parking for 20 cars (including 2 disabled)."

and now the parking outside Cafe No 1 is destined to be a Taxi Rank, perhaps nobody told Emma Kay
