Three buses a hour meant one every 20 minutes enough time to get to Exeter without getting held up behind one. Five buses a hour means delays every 12 minutes. More hold ups, more accidents cause they cant stay on their own side of the road, time lost, business lost, increased journey time = more fuel used. You just couldnt invent this.

Pedestrians, Cyclists, buses, tempoary traffic lights.

What the hell do we pay road tax for, and can we get a refund everytime we are held up

Taxi drivers have their own rules on the road ..and of course would not like an increased bus service.  Last time I got in a taxi the clock started at £1.80 what is it now?

@wondering

Lots of variables on that, for Teignbridge better check with the Taxi office at Forde house for the recommended charge.

Depends on operator, distance from base, time of day or bank holiday, taxi or private hire cab.

Thanks Fred and Stephen.

I found this website ,,to calculate taxi fares may be handy for someone.

Example. Dawlish-Exeter £26.80. Clock starts at £2.40.

@wondering - be carefull, because the reason i mentioned it was that each authority has a different price scale. so if you get a taxi licenced by exeter city or torbay the price "could" be different - thanks

For info: this is what the Dawlish town centre newsletter says about the new bus timetable:

"Stagecoach Buses From 27 May 2013, changes to the bus service will mean more regular buses to and from Dawlish town centre.

The change to route 2 means that, instead of taking the sizeable deviation to serve Dawlish Warren, new routes from Exeter and Torquay will start and finish at Dawlish Warren, providing a frequency of up to every half hour, Monday to Saturday and every hour on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Exeter’s route B will be extended to include a half hour service to Kenton, Starcross, Shutterton and an hourly service to Dawlish or Dawlish Warren, providing residents in these areas with connections to Marsh Barton, Exeter City Centre and Exeter Business Park. This new timetable will also incorporate the current route 10 journeys through from Teignmouth.

Service 11 will be extended from Teignmouth to Dawlish and Dawlish Warren. Residents in Dawlish Warren will benefit from a half hourly service to Dawlish, seven days a week, summer and winter. There will also be late evening journeys for people wishing to have an evening out in Dawlish.

Timetables for all services will be available soon on the Stagecoach website www.stagecoachbus.com/southwest and in print shortly afterwards."

@Lynne.This is exactly what the Stagecoachbus website says. And don`t go looking for it in IE 10. It`s on page 2 and that does not load. Use another browser.

Very pleased to find that the 'winter timetables' are pretty much the same as summer.  We still have the 11 direct to Torquay, and the B direct via Marsh Barton and the Exe Bridges up Exeter High Street.  Much better than last winter (or the one before etc).

I like the B it gets from Dawlish to St Thomas in 40 minutes.  The 11 is good for anyone wanting to go to a evening show in Torquay...
