The 60- bed Dewnans Centre at Langdon Hospital on the outskirts of Dawlish was completed within its budget and on time.
The hospital provides secure accommodation and treatment for people with a wide variety of mental health and learning disabilities.
60 beds in four wards along with a range of recreational, education and vocational resources including a sports barn and therapies centre, has been provided in this state-of-the-art design.
It now means that some people who would normally have to be treated outside Devon can now be closer to their families and friends.
There are also new employment opportunities for local people to join the team of nurses and other professions.

Its a prison that hides under the term Hospital, and should never have been allowed in Dawlish. Some of the patients in there are dangerous criminals and should not be placed in a holiday resort. Hopefully there will be tighter controls and more staff to deal with them.
I understand that over the next 20 years or so it's planned that a lot of house building will take place quite near to it and very useful it will be too for those who live in these new houses if they work at the hospital - as the houses and the hospital will be in walking distance of each other.

So how many serious incidents involving Langdon has there been in the last 20 years and by serious i mean likely to endanger a member of the public
One would be enough, but to my knowledge alone there have been several, and that dosent include the number of staff injured. Only the other week a patient went on the run and the cost to the tax payer must have run into thousands the police helicopter was out for hours plus the ground units. Then theres the incident at Dawlish Warren station a couple of months ago.
Perhaps you should use the freedom of information act if you really need to know.
