The following link to the Town Council website will hopefully give all the information required

http://www.dawlish.gov.uk/edit/uploads/dawlishcelebratesposterv11070.pdf

The Town Council has a Community Celebration Fund this year of £10,000 to support initiatives such as Party in the Park, anyone who wants to know more about the May events (or wants to volunteer to help) is welcome to contact Alison in the Town Council office or Alec Fewings at the Royal British Legion.

£10K?.......I'm wondering why we're only spending £200 for a sound system for PITP! Will get back to you on that one Micheal.

'Breeze' or 'Breze' I think.

A little different from previous years. A bit more 'Folky'.

Hopefully it will go down well.

I won't be getting back to you on the sound system Michael.....apparently we're 'keeping it in the family'!!!!

I am resigning on Thursday.

Dont know whats going on. but if the hire of the P.A. system is only £200 then its going to sound worse than the last event. The sound quality at a live venue is the most inportant part of the night.

Get the pro's in and make it a night to remember (Stage Electrics)

Drove by at 7.00pm, didnt stop because the stage and sound system were pathetic and the strand was full of drunken kiddies. Such a shame cant wait for Teignmouth carnival week. Good luck to the RBL though hope you raised some much needed funds.

@Fred.

The sound system in use at that time was, I believe,  Diamond Dogz own system, and not what the Legion organised.

Anyway, it was a great day and well done to Alec and the (BRANCH) committee of Dawlish RBL for organising a great (FREE) day for all to enjoy.

Have just come past the lawn and again, the RBL Branch + a few volunteers have done a great job of clearing up all the rubbish that was left., so again, congrats to Alec and the few.

A grand job done.

@dawlishwulf.

Well said. What do they want for FREE?

If people want a pro sound system, then let them PAY for it. It will give them something proper to moan about.

@Carer

You have your thinking all wrong people arent moaning, their trying to point something out to improve things for next time. Why do you not understand that the sound system at an outside live event is the most important part of the day. To get the ground coverage at a reasonable volume without feedback, distortion etc, you need proffesional equipment and a sound engineer who knows whats required. Its a totally different concept to playing CDs in your front room.

The other point you make is also incorrect, people will pay a reasonable amount for live entertainment. Think about it if they have enough money for booze and burgers for the day they aint going to moan about paying a couple of quid to get in.

I was no more than 12 feet from Diamondogz and still couldn't hear what they were saying so would be Interested to know why they chose to use their own over the event one.

The problem with charging to get in is that the organisers then need to delineate what is 'In' and what is not. That requires barriers of some sort and 'policing' the boundary. Both cost money which the organisers can't afford to put up front with no guaranteeof a return. The bucket colections that the RBL do are not very well subscribed if you take into account the number of people there. In fact, having done it, many people make it clear that they don't want to put in anything! Additionally a lot (if not the majority) bring their own booze so the RBL do not even get a cut of that (which they do from the beer tent/bar). It's difficult to see how it can be made better when most don't want to contribute any way. I do feel that they missed a golden opportunity to dip into the £10k for a sound system though. But then the main organiser had their own reasons for that!!!

I have nothing but praise for all the people who worked hard over the weekend on all the events. Its a shame that one thing like this spoilt it. Would a local company not have been prepared to do it for free or at a lowcost as its for the Legion who do stirling Charity work, and maybe they should have this once dipped into the £10k

No, they've been asked before. I'm afraid that these days even some of the bands have to be paid.

this is for huwmatthews2 if you decide to have an entry fee,and wondering how to police it ask the r.b.l.riders club,as it will be in house and you all support the same thing so no fee to be found im sure,grt bunch of bikers,just a thought,

Yeah, that has been thought of. Unfortunately I'm no longer part of it so can't answer for the current committee. I have to say though that on 2 previous occasions when the Riders Branch have said that they're coming to something we've had on they've cancelled at the last minute. If that happened under this scenario it would be a disaster.

I think what people need to focus on is that you pay bugger all, you get a full days entertainment, cheap beer etc. All the guys and girls who organise it and man the beer tent and RBL stalls do it for nothing; as do the primary organisers! If you want more then either put your hand in your pocket on the day or volunteer your help in getting involved with Dawlish Branch RBL.

If you do neither of these things then don't bloody whinge when things aren't fully up to your expectations!!!!
