Dawlish is a wonderful place to live and visit, surrounded by the sea on one side and countryside the other. The air is healthy and not too polluted. We have a lovely green area in the centre of our little town called the Lawn with a small canal called locally the Brook running through it. This starts at Haldon and runs through Ashcombe and eventually goes under the Viaduct out to sea

Our emblem the Black swans and other wildfowl live on here and are a tourist attraction.

Unfortunately the same as a lot of towns we have seen a slight decline in shops, but they have been utilised with charities. At present £1.7million is being spent on a regeneration of the Strand (our main shopping street) and it does look a bit of a mess at the moment, but no doubt it will all be finished in time to welcome visitors at Whitsun.

If you want sandy beaches and childrens entertainment you need to go to our other beach Dawlish Warren, this is where most of the holiday camps are.

We have several small interesting shops one being Gays Creamery where Ice Creams topped with clotted cream are a favourite, several good eateries  and 3 fish and chip takeaways.

We are blessed with a few pubs (not as many as we used to have) one of which is situated alongside the Lawn The Brunswick Arms.

Im sure Dawlish will provide the visitor with a unique experience

The re-painting of the train station deserves a mention its looking pretty good now.

Howerver could someone advise why the fallen wall at the bottom of Teignmouth Hill is not being dealt with. Surely the rubble could be removed the remaining wall shored up and the road re-opened.

Why do these incidents seem to drag on for ever. Get the council to sort it out and send the bill to whoever owns the wall, how difficult can it be.
