Part of the cliff at Ness Cove collapsed and blocked a pedestrian tunnel leaving the women, one of whom is pregnant woman, unable to leave.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service told BBC News the two women, who had a dog with them, were not thought to be injured.

Coastguards were alerted to the incident at about 11:00 GMT.

Teignmouth inshore lifeboat and Devon and Cornwall Police were involved with the "awkward" rescue.
