Next brainwave is to give £1200 per annum for nursery costs to couples who
can each earn up to £150,000.starting in 2015/16.

I spent 7yrs bringing up 3 children in the 70s I got no childcare costs given to me, I chose to work rather than claim benefits I relied on good friends and paid babysitters, I most probably was not much better off than if I claimed benefits but my pride would not let me, now on top of all the benefit cuts we have this load of tosh again to help the better off. Is this to appease the high earners who lost their Child Benefit, beggars belief

From the bedroom tax housing benefit savings, working tax credit savings and all those other welfare cut savings that have, and will, impact on the poorest in our society?
I too have had a family and in good times and bad never been entitled to
any benefits except sweet f.a.
It's just a different way of giving out child tax credit and child benefit. I understand that the amount lost to couples on child tax credit is about £1200 so it's not finding new money. I also understand that both parents have to be working to receive this, not sure if that is full or part time.
Why would a couple with a joint income of £300,000 need help with child care costs?

Because the live in London with a huge mortgage and high living costs.
Ah! So it's a Londoncentric policy.
Everything this gov does is based on Greater London, they need to realise there is a different life outside that area
