At the election I am going to vote for the MP that is to put a stop to this. UK is far too small we cant take them all. Its all because they get free NHS as soon as they arrive and benefits. Dont see them getting to France and stopping there do you.

Id get out of EU.

My fellow Englishmen and ladies, please don't delude yourselves they will come by the thousands and they will be allowed to stay and claim full benefits. Why is this happening? is it because the English have lost their will to fight?  Just to give up and allow this to happen is beyond believe. Where has that bulldog spirit gone?  It is estimated that twenty nine million that's (29) will come to these shores within the next few years. Why do you think the government are introducing all these benefit cuts for the population that need help. All the cuts are being implemented is to pay for the deluge that is coming.

On the Statue of Liberty as you approach New York harbour it is inscribed.

"Give me your tired,your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breath free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, the tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

This is the last part on the Statue of Liberty. However in those days when millions went to America in search of a new life they DID NOT GO FOR BENEFITS as there were none given they worked and worked hard. Unlike the United Kingdom. So my fellow English you can expect all taxes to go up and benefits cut for those in need.

Ok I'm of my soapbox.

"It is estimated that twenty nine million that's (29) will come to these shores within the next few years"

Estimated by whom and based on what evidence? and from where will they come? (just asking)

I do not think it matters where the numbers come from, since Poland joined the EU and they had the right to come to the UK 650,000 have come into the UK. If the same happens with Romanians all that will happen is that we become even more over crowded and the problems simply grow.

We can all argue as much as we like about numbers the point is that we cannot take any more. For at the size of the Uk we have more people living here than live in France and it is three times our size.

"It is estimated that twenty nine million that's (29) will come to these shores within the next few years."

Clearly nonsensical. This is what was said, Coloured highlights are mine:

"Twenty nine million Romanians and Bulgarians will gain the right to live and work unrestricted in Britain in 2014 under European “freedom of movement” rules.

Last night forecasters said it could lead to a significant number of new arrivals, in the same way as when Poland and other Eastern European countries gained the same rights in 2004, with the scale likely to be increased by the economic crisis gripping the rest of Europe.

And a Government report was disclosed to show concern among official advisers that the British labour market will suffer “adverse effects” as a result.

Both the countries’ citizens currently have restricted rights to come to Britain since they joined the European Union in 2007, but those limits end on 31 December 2013, opening the way for them to move freely.

The restrictions will be lifted at a time when there is increasing political tension over Britain’s relationship with Europe and questions over whether European “freedom of movement” rules have harmed the job prospects of British people."

As Kenny says, the precise numbers are unimportant. However, to be taken seriously, here or elsewhere, I think people should check numbers and exact wording when contributing to a debate. Call me pedantic if you will.

Meanwhile, pretty close to Brooklyn Bridge, Lou Reed had a different take on the statue of Liberty:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeL5RcbpiM8

When we opened the doors to eastern Europe EU countries in 2004 the government estimated 13,000 would move to Britian,  The true figure turned out to be over one million.  I can see a similar deluge happening next year.

Well the cat is really chasing the pidgeons. When i arrived in the United States in 1983 i had to sign an affidavit that i would not be able claim any benefits and that was put into my passport to that affect. I could work however, and through hard work i was able to get health care. True i paid a portion of the cost which was deducted from my salary and my employer paid the rest in order to get health care through my employer. Yes i know that the United States is not the EU.  I have to admit the United States has it's own internal problems but nowhere near the extent of the UK.

I'm English born and bred and i'm ashamed to see how the British people are having the wool pulled over their eyes with a load of rhetoric from the politicians. You will be taxed to the hilt just look at the petrol prices and that's the tip of the iceberg. You will be losing services, but with the next wave of migrants coming in they will be well cared for. The National Health Service (NHS) was set up for the NATION in 1947 not for the rest of Europe, and so they come here to suck poor old blighty dry at your expense.
