Anne Marie Morris voted yes
Ive had dealings with her office seeking help for somebody who was in dire straits, and very helpful they were too, but this has disgusted me have she and her kind no idea how devastating this is to the disavantaged
There is an article in this week's Dawlish Gazette reporting that our local Conservatives have agreed she should stand again in this constituency, to defend her parliamentary seat, when the next General Election takes place in 2015.
This is an extract from A-MM's website and its page concerning local issues. I've highlighted the second sentence.
Note also, further down the piece, that she and her team work with other organisations to help "provide food parcels and sometimes even tents".
Ah! So is that how the bedroomed taxed but with no smaller accommodation to down size to will manage? They'll be given tents? (But with no 'extra' bedrooms of course!)
A third of the cases Anne Marie is asked to help constituents with relate to housing. There is too little housing stock to meet demand locally and the private rented sector is difficult and expensive to access. Anne Marie has been working with many constituents to ensure those that urgently need rehousing get their cases properly heard with a number of successful outcomes. Sometimes she faces individuals in emergency situations and she and her team work with Teignbridge District Council and Local charities to provide food parcels and sometimes even tents. Anne Marie encouraged local groups to establish a Homelessness provision at Christmas in Newton Abbot and she is delighted that this is now a regular Christmas event in the Scout Hut. She meets with local church groups across all denominations working with them on a number of social issues, including homelessness and debt and the problems of some of our vulnerable young people. To deal with the housing problem Teignbridge District Council have produced a new Core Strategy which sets out the framework for development across Teignbridge over the next 20 years. The plan raised concerns with a number of local residents and Anne Marie attended a number of local meetings including at Bishopsteignton and Abbotskerswell to listen and then raise their concerns with the Council. She was concerned about the predicted numbers to be built and asked the local council to review them which they did – and the number was revised downwards. She was equally concerned that green fields (Teignbridge has no green belt land) should be built on only as a very last resort and lobbied the government accordingly with Zac Goldsmith and other like minded MPs. When the County Council proposed building an incinerator on Brunel Industrial Estate Anne Marie fought it hard with a successful outcome"
Nobody is debating this with us Lynne, does that mean apathy/I agree with the policy/or Im alright Jack, I cant understand it as none of us knows what is around the corner and at some point could fall foul of these horrendous policies
