£25 in cash was found in Marine Parade and handed in to the Police Office in Brunswick Place.
Later the same day a wallet containing more than £130 cash was also handed in. The wallet was found in the Strand by two Dawlish teenagers, despite the claims by two men stood nearby that they thought it belonged to a friend. The girls were not convinced and the wallet was eventually handed over to the police.
The wallet was later reunited with its rightful owner.

Most people are honest.
However, I found a £20 note outside the Carlton Theatre in Teignmouth and handed it in just before Teignmouth Police Station closed. I was told to pick it up at N. Abbot Police Station as it hadn't been claimed and there was now no Pol Stn in Teignmouth (none of which - i.e. that the time had expired or that T'mouth police station had closed I had been info'd about). On arrival I was told (and I quote): "Oh no you've had that! You're too late, that'll be in the coffers by now!".
Will I hand in finds again, try to find the owner myself, or risk a charge of 'Theft by Finding'? I don't know yet!
Well done those two teenagers and also a BIG high five to thier parents for raising two kids with awesome morales!!!!!!
Don't know how long ago that happened to you Huw but on reporting it you should have received a reference number from the police. I'd have 'created' if they had said that to me. But then that's me and I wouldn't have 'created' about the money as such but the principle that it should be mine not the police's given that it wasn't claimed.
It's now 28 days between handing something in and being able to claim it if the original owner does not (wasn't it 3 months at some time?).
Not going into details on here but I also found money over the Christmas period which I duly reported to the police. Hence I know about the 28 days and reference number etc.
