Dawlish Discussion

I know somewhere there is another thread on this subject, but I couln't find it.

Apparantly the company involved in this build (Millwood homes) have breached there 106 agreement, the council have been pursueing them and as of Monday this week they have come up with an agreement for the build to go ahead. The Company will start the build in the New Year and they are to build a number of industrial units with mezzaine floor space.

Hopefully these units along with the empty ones on Dawlish Ind Estate when occupied may bring vital jobs to the area.

Yes AndyS I have definitely been posting about the above on here and also chasing TDC. Other posters on this website on earlier threads have also referred to this breach of the S106 agreement. 

Would anyone care to have a little wager on it not happening. By the new year they will have thought up another excuse or applied for another ammendment to the agreed plan

Anyone know if the work on these units has started?

Nothing happening as at today 3:00pm, just 2 blue containers on the land on the other side of the road that's at the rear of Sainsbury and they have been there for a long time.

It'll be an e-mail from me to TDC's planning/enforcement department then. I'll let you know the response I get.

The power unit delivered definately wasn't for Sainsbury's, I know someone who was working on the unit that day, also they have worked down their since for half a day, not a lot going on, only one or two people on site at a time.

There are also similar units planned for the area around the Morrison's development at Broadmeadow.

We all know that TDC loves Teignmouth (Jewel of the Southwest etc). I guarantee those units will be built and filled before the Shutterton units have a sod shifted.

Coincidence? - there's no room for two McDonalds, KFCs, Motor Factors etc in the area - I think not.

During the past 2 months, I have seen several mcdonalds bags littering the Dawlish/Cockwood area, I hate to imagine what it would be like if there was one here.

Actually I think I'll get my franchise application in now for Mcdonalds, it should do great business, all the food outlets in Dawlish will slowly be closing as no one can park now to get to their shops, no new business will open up as they will not be able to afford the rent & rates, too much competition from the charity shops  

A couple of years ago I had conversations with both Mcdonalds and KFC and both have the same basic requirements for giving a franchise agreement. The main issue both Dawlish and Teignmouth have is lack of population. Both brands require a surrounding population of 30,000 minimum. The opening hours required would probably scare off quite a few as well.

Another delaying tactic to put TDC off taking enforcement action. If the electricity and water services have been located in the wrong place then they themselves must have done it, as they are the main and only developer on site. Come on TDC get a grip of this situation its been going on for 2 years now
