A brave band of seven cyclists faced the worst of the Westcountry weather as they began a 150-mile cycle ride in aid of Help the Heroes.
Describing themselves as "more senior gentlemen", the group set off from their home town of Dawlish first thing in the morning.
Organiser Mike Swift, whose son is a colour sergeant in the Coldstream Guards, said: "People have been very supportive and there is already about £1,500 in the kitty.
