I have been filtering my Tap water for 20 years now. The Chlorination of the water supply in Dawlish is so strong that you can only enjoy a good
cup of Tea or Coffee by continuing to purchase water filters lately at a cost of £7.50 for 3, why are we paying so much for a commodity that we
cannot drink when boiled without a very bad taste?
Buy water from tesco 17 p for 2 litres . it 's nice .make a nice cup of tea.
Spiral 1, I agree its not the best tasting water, you would think that for the amount they charge (SWW) they would correct the problem.
Is It because the southwest region has soft water unlike hampshire which has hard water.I always holiday In Dawlish and I always have lovely Coffee/Tea.

I doubt that chlorine would be added to the water supply because the water is too soft!

@Spiral, my mother's water is really chlorinated and she lives in town and has to filter. I live outside town and mine is fine. It really does seem to depend where you live in Dawlish.
Flo, You could be right It`s not confined just to Dawlish either? For me it`s been constant since 1992 I am sat looking at a Annalytical report from
South West Water dated 8th October 1992,
Following a complaint from me at the time several 2 ltr bottles of water samples full of C.... were taken away and annalysed. a full water quality report was sent to me covering period 01/08/91 to 01/08/92 confirming how many milliparts of some 80 or more chemicals present in our water supply,
I was promised follow up sample taking and it never happened?
The covering letter sent to me expressed sorrow that i was dissatisfied with the water supply.
suggested it was most likely a localised problem, possibly related to a domestic plumbing fixture, is the cause of the taste problem!
Statutory monitoring of treated water at burrows water treatment works and for the Dawlish Water into supply zone show`s the general water quality to be good,
May I reassure you that there have been no recent changes in Chlorination practice at the works?
If this is true then why is my sanitary fittings ( Metal ) being eaten away and why in the past has the Chlorination been so strong that it could be
smelt from an upstairs loo on entry to the house?
