Thanks for posting that Lynne - very useful.  Do you know if these grants cover orchards as well (can't see any reference on their web-site).  We're trying to set up a community orchard  and are looking for funding for fruit trees.

I don't know Neil is my honest answer. However, if you look at the website you will see there is a 'contact us' page with various options concerning types of enquiry which includes 'school and community trees' (which might include community orchards?) and 'other'.

I'm interested in the community orchard thingy as well so if we both of us ask (and others as well?) then perhaps the point might get made that grants for food growing trees might be an especially good idea.

Thanks Lynne.  The hedging packs look interesting, especially the wild fruit and nut packs.

Neil - try googling Woodland Trust Community Orchards. You should then get some examples of how the WT has already helped with the setting up of these around the country.

Thanks Lynne.  Also had an e-mail back from Woodland Trust saying that they don't have grants available for orchards but pointing me in the direction of these web-sites:

www.orchardnetwork.org.uk

www.commonground.org.uk

Neil is this orchard you're talking about the community orchard that is being set up at Holcombe?

If so, any chance you could let us all know all about it, how it came to be, how the land was acquired etc.

Thanks
