A young child has been treated for suspected carbon monoxide poisoning following a gas leak in a caravan in Dawlish.
Firefighters from Dawlish, Teignmouth and Middlemoor were called to a caravan park in Exeter Road at around 12.30am following reports of a carbon monoxide alarm sounding.
Upon arrival, crews located a carbon monoxide leak from a gas lamp inside the caravan.
One young child was suffering the effects of carbon monoxide poisoning and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “The only indication that there was a leak to the occupants was the fact their carbon monoxide alarm had sounded.
"This reinforces the importance of being careful when using fossil fuels in enclosed spaces and the importance of having a carbon monoxide detector."
