Hi,
BT have just informed us that we need an engineer to turn the line back on and their is a huge delay, sometime between mid August and mid September (we can't cope without internet) so we need a cafe that has wifi, one thats open most the day would help (am 15 mins, pm 15mins).
Not sure about cafes but both the Smugglers and the Ship (in cockwood) have wifi.
Is there not the use of a computer/internet in the library?
Thanks, I was hoping to avoid pubs alocohol at 9am probably not so good, mind Cockwood is just about walking distance.
Library good idea, i will email them to see if they have wifi, my program is on my laptop.

Library do have free wifi Andysport, and free use of pc's for 30mins.

Not at all, think they charge £1 per day if you need power, but I guess that won't be an issue for what you need. (cheap enough anyway!)
Library has wi-fi and the signal can be picked up from the cafe across the road. Normal login required, so you will have to join the library
Many thanks, thats great, Id thought cafe twice a day, coffee and cake 2 x £4 x 6 days £48 a week so library is an absolute bargain.

Don't think you need to join to use the wifi, only the pc's, but I think it's well worth joining anyway. And they have a coffee vending machine (which serves some better coffee than I've had elsewhere in town!)
Well I have just managed to join on line it was so simple, so thats it committed now.
Vending machine coffee is not good, so maybe an annonymous letter to said cafes might help (probably fall on deaf ears, but at least you'll have tried)

I have a Kulfi reciepe if you want it, it takes hours to make (like 4 hours)
I also have a vegetable curry and rice thats 100 calories per portion

Yes the library has free open wifi, but charges £1 per day if you want to plug into the electricity. You can pick this up from the No 1 cafe when the library is closed, (the wifi that is, not the electric). Also Open Daw has free wifi when you buy a coffee. I have tried the pubs but the signal is poor in most of them. I think the new Jack Sprats was also advertising wifi, but I'm not certain.

'an engineer to turn the line back on' that's complete nonsense to start with and makes no sense. I would firstly want a proper explanation from BT, ring them and tell them you wish to raise a complaint, they will issue a complaint number and then things will be explained properly or sorted out.
Alternatively, email the complaints dept when you are online, you will immediately get a an
automated response with a complaint number, I've never had a problem doing that, BT are happy to call you on your mobile if that is your only contact and I have never failed to get things resolved within 72 hours if you take this route.
Wow thanks wriggler, they said it was due to floods, I did question this and asked for the details of how many areas had been struck with 16' high floods to which the chap seemed rather puzzled (I think my sense of humour is wasted on so many), I suggested we went to an alternative provider, he thus told me that all provider are obliged to use openzone engineers thus the timescale being the same.
Actually maybe you may have an insight to this one, on the property we are buying there is 8 telephone lines (a condition of planning permission) (Yes I know I've never heard this one before either) anyway 8 lines on site none of them have ever been used or connected, I did ask why we can't utilise one of these, response " well they were installed 6 years ago so we would need to have an engineer check them to ensure their servicability" It's the same engineer the same cost and the same timescale, may as well have a new line exactly where you want it.
You know the more I think about this the more stupid it sounds.
