Thinking of moving here - does the home you want to buy have views of lovely countryside? Be warned!

I'm posting this not because I want to get into the whys and wherefores of whether housing development should take place here (that debate has happened before and is presently happening again on other threads) but to draw to the attention of those presently thinking of moving here that just because a 'search' done by your solicitor hasn't thrown up any planning applications/consent on those lovely fields that you can see from the window of the house you want to buy that doesn't mean that they ain't gonna be built on in the near and reasonably future.

So, as a general rule of thumb and although no planning applications have yet been submitted, take it as read that most of the new houses will be built on the land that stretches from Secmaton Lane up to the Langdon Hospital area.  There will also be development on the opposite side of the road by Sainsbury's which will run parallel with Shutterton Lane.

Going to the other side of town, there will be housing development on the land at the top of Southdown Road that borders Underwood Close.

I believe there will be also be a small development at Holcombe.
