I lost my camera (Canon EOS 1000D, like the picture below) yesterday at the Party in the Park (04/06/2012) on the Lawn. I think I left it on the bar at the Brunswick pub and walked back the Lawn without it. I have been there today (05/06/2012) but it hasn't been handed in. I took many shots of the Party in the Park and I was hoping to post them all on this site. So two requests, 1, has anyone found a camera and 2, if you have photos of the Jubilee celebrations in Dawlish can you post them on this site.

Have a look on eBay to see if anyone is selling it.

If someone has it and not reported it you can also find out where your stolen camera is by tracking the serial number embedded in your photos.  See http://www.stolencamerafinder.com/

The serial number is sometimes embedded in the EXIF data (that is the time, date and camera setting details) is 'embedded' in the img details when you take the pic.

Cameras that use this system, it is not a universal feature, can be found here http://www.stolencamerafinder.com/listmodels

However, many people strip the exif data from images, especially when putting images online, and many editing programmes also remove the data.

Did you copy the EXIF serial number as the serial number on the box is sometimes different from the number put into the EXIF data, why is that, no idea but some manufacturers use two different numbers.

Am trying not to be too negative but modifying EXIF data is quite simple, but any feedback on this would be interesting as this system has been around for many years but there is no feedback as to whether it is of any use.

First, sorry to hear of your loss and hope that you do get it returned.

However, and sorry to be so precise, but as you state, you lost it at PitP, then go further to say you left it at the Brunswick, then changed it to the South Devon.

Why did you have to mention PitP?  That has nothing to do with either the Brunswick or the South Devon and seems like a slur on the RBL who organised the event when in fact you lost it at a different venue altogether..

As I said, sorry to be so precise and hope you get it back.

Sorry for the confusion, I have my camera back now. I wasn't sure where I had left it but I was mostly at the PitP that afternoon taking pics, but also popped into a few pubs for refreshments. It turned out I'd left it at the South Devon. Like I said, I wasn't sure which was why I said the PitP.

@Carer.  how on earth can someone saying that they lost something, be in anyway construed as being a slur on the RBL???!!! Paul said he lost it, not that one of Red Sparrows nicked it lol!!

@Paul. i'm pleased that you remembered where you left and that it has been returned to you. 

Have to agree with Nelson, that was a bit moody of you carer!
