Community Wardens To Loose Their Radios

I have just found out that our wonderful Community Wardens, are to loose their radios!

However, residents will not be surprised to learn that this cost cutting directive comes from Teignbridge District Council.

Whilst the Council is always pleased to take the credit for the continuing success of the Community Wardens, this success is surely due to the calibre of the Wardens themselves.

I see from the Councils own website, that Chief Executive Nicola Bulbeck states she "... is committed to improving areas which have a direct impact on the quality of Teignbridge customers' lives; such as public conveniences, providing clean, safe streets and tackling anti-social behaviour."

Fine words indeed, but only the louts and yobs will benefit from the withdraw of the Wardens Radios.

This petty cost cutting exercise can do nothing for the moral of our wardens. Not only does it place them in danger but also prevents them from assessing other vital functions that only modern radios can provide.

Whist it is not the job of the wardens to deliberately place themselves at risk, the nature of their role often makes such possibilities unavoidably.

PROTECT THOSE THAT PROTECT US !!!
It’s the least we owe them.

I hope other residents will join me in campaigning to Teignbridge District Council, to allow the Community Wardens to keep their radios.

Otherwise, the drunks, yobs and other anti-social louts will have won.

Please send your letters of complaint direct to Teignbridge District Council and also to your own local District Councillors.

Thank you

A Concerned Resident

Do you run an evening bus 'pick up' service as well?

Many of our pensioners tend to let their chauffeurs have these evenings, off each week.

Thanks for contribution to this serious issue.

I am not an idiot. Such a comment does not show your organisation in a good light.

The Community Safety Wardens protect the public, including the elderly. It would be logical to think that you were suggesting the public take your classes.

Everyone I have spoken to understood the joke - except yourselves, who resort to cheap abuse. Is it any wonder that you now provoke a negative response from other forum users? Not a good example for your training courses is it?

This forum is for the people of Dawlish to discuss important issues. Not for commercial organisations like your own, to use it as a free advertisement. I hope the community have taken note of the tasteless way you have chosen to exploit serious local issues, for your own commercial gain.

Well said!

I couldn't agree more that this site is being hijacked for financial gain.

Please, in future, use the proper channels to advertise services.

We currently teach law enforcement, military and PCSO's. They have found it to be most effective.

If this training is not for you then that is ok. But please don't slag or put down our club.

And before you say anymore, YES IT IS SERIOUS and we do care about our commiunity.

I have read your post, and also feel concerned; if there are not 'problems' in Dawlish then why do they feel the need for community officers?? A family friend is one in Exeter; therefore i understand the full extent of what they come across...therefore i feel that for their own personal safety they must have radio contact!
Regarding my untimely comment earlier...i feel that if there are so-called 'bad-boys' (probably on the dole, claimimg sick and spending there time just trying to intimdate others)! It must stress the point of retaining the use of there radios and maybe if the Council we're to take the time to visit the website then they will see the evidence for themselves!?
Isn't it nice to know that the uneducated thugs still feel the need to leave a paper trail and discuss there wrong doing's and carry on threats for all to see!!
I hope for the sake of others they leave the website alone and let it be there for the reason intended. I'm quite sure the 'Old Bill' can trace them all by there IP Address anyway!
Please discuss this with your CWarden. Too much of my Council Tax is wasted....I'm sure thats another topic!!
