WHICH IS THE BEST BROADBAND AND PHONE PROVIDER, FOR EX7 AREA.
Dawlish Discussion
Broadband in EX7 is pretty erelavent because according to BT the physical line network can only cope with about 2meg speed, so until BT spend a bit of dosh and upgrade their systems you can ignore claims of 8 to 20 meg broadband.
Really go for the best price and free calls package. We are with Talk Talk and allthough the customer service is crap, their contracts are only 3-months and Wireless Broadband + free anytime calls and line rental comes in at £28/month. Make sure you pay by direct debit cause they charge £4.50 for non D/D payments.
I'm on BT and never have a problem, with connection, drop offs or speed
AOL GREAT SERVICE £14.99 PER MONTH INCLUDING FREE CALLS HAVE BEEN WITH AOL FOR OVER 14yrs AND HAVE JUST NEGOTIATED THAT PRICE SINCE THEIR TAKE OVER BY FACEBOOK ONLY DOWN SIDE HAD TO TAKE A 18month CONTRACT DOWNLOAD SPEED AS I AM TYPING 4.02 meg
Because I maintain a lot of people's computers, I have had to deal with plenty of providers - BT, Talktalk, Utility Warehouse, Virgin, Sky, Aol. Their customer service is universally awful when things go wrong - they are always falling over themselves to put the onus on you to prove that it is their responsibility, as opposed to yours or BT's (as infrastructure providers) and some threaten charges if it turns out, in their view, not to have been. You have to jump through all the hoops for them - I can tell you what they are, if required. All this can frighten people into calling out their local pc technician (thereby incurring a charge anyway.)
Providers will quote a maximum speed and, as Mugonhead says, the speed you get will depend on the BT line and your distance from the nearest telephone exchange. So, for example, I have friends in Netherton whose maximum speed is about 512K
Once you accept all this you can make your choice based on price, contract length, penalties for early termination, telephone package and download limit and all will be OK until it isn't.
Am I wrong?
Don
Well Don i think you are wrong in all the years i have been with AOL i have always found there service spot on always helpful easy to follow instructions not once have i had reason to complain i have had serious problems in the past but the problem has always been sorted without any fuss. Recently i lost service not my fault for about 30hrs and was given one free months rental they have always without exception been courteous and helpful very rare these days all i can say is well done AOL
SBATT43. As an AOL subscriber I can confirm that they do use Indian Call Centres, which are not to bad re understanding the accent, I have sometimes had return calls from Ireland, they(Both)have always be helpful and patient, no complaints from me in the six years with them
As user4549 has stated AOL do have Indian call Centre but i have only had a problem once with accent so they transferred me to Southern Ireland where they also have a call Centre so i presume AOL realize that sometimes there can be a problem so have a back up service
