In a £17,000 burglary at a detached house in Mamhead, near Dawlish, more than 40 items of jewellery were taken, including sentimental inherited pieces.
A window was forced and the burglars made a very untidy search of all the rooms, including the nursery which was ransacked.
Other items stolen included an Onkyo home theatre surround system and a Canon camera.
