Just wondering if anyone else thinks Sainsburys here are ripping us off? Petrol is £1.38.9 a litre here and £1.33.9 at Sainsburys, Brixham Rd, Paignton. Diesel is £1.44.9 here and £1.40.9 at Paignton. The garage in Starcross is charging the same as Sainsburys, or was last time I looked. Does anyone know what Sainsburys are charging at Newton Abbott and Exeter?
Is it time for a really serious boycott???
Nationaly fuel prices are on the increase the fuel companies give three reasons increases in a barrel of oil, the exchange rate oil is in dollars, and the decline in demand.
Now i can understand the exchange rate having some bearing on price but a slow down in demand doesnt make any sence, a fall in demand for gas and electricity reduced the price the idea i presume the cheaper it is the more you use.
So why is fuel so expensive it is predicted that as demand falls it will reach £2 a litre i dont think Sainsburys in particular are ripping us of its more likely to be the producers who are not happy with their huge profits but just want to milk the motorist even more. They believe we cant do without our cars so maybe instead of boycotting Sainsburys we should boycott buying fuel nationally for 2or 3 weeks i would bet the price would fall dramatically as refineries would be bursting at the seams and would soon run out of storage space. From recent articles i have read it costs huge amounts of money to shut down and restart refineries maybe we should yet again look at the big picture but of course who would be willing to not buy fuel for a long period of time my bet nobody we are all over the same BARREL
I was told by a friend who lives in Exeter that the local radio does (or did, it was a while ago she told me) a feature of the most expensive and cheapest fuel in the Exeter area each day and it actually helped to reduce some prices and keep them far more level than they had been. The trouble is that round Dawlish there is too little competition and so they are far less likely to be bothered by that sort of campaign.
Mind you, last time I drove to London the fuel there was more expensive than it was in Dawlish and Teignmouth, so it isn't all bad news.
Was thinking the same thing at weekend. Went to sainsbury’s in Newton and it was 2p per litre cheaper than Dawlish. They have Tesco on their doorstep so have to compete.
Dawlish branch just make sure they are cheaper or same as marine. I don’t bother with Sainsbury’s as a rule (was just really low on diesel). I put £30 an a week and would rather give the extra 25p to support our local garage.
Boycott is need.
from what ive heard how true i dont know but like northner said they said they wouldnt go lower than a penny diffo from marine garage i personally still fill up at marine as i like to surport locals

As you might guess, I'm more than happy to buy my cheaper petrol at Sainsburys, and earn Nectar points at the same time as I do my cheap shopping and do my recycling. Not happy that it's cheaper at other local-ish Sainsbury's (albeit you'd probably spend the savings in getting there and back if you're making a special journey), but that's how business works.
Trago has the cheapest prices but only worth going there if you're in that area anyway. Pointless to drive miles to get cheaper petrol!
Motorway Services are the worst. Over the last couple of months on the M6 I've paid up to 10p per litre more to fill up on the motorway. If I'm in Exeter I fill up at Countess Weir, it always seems to be a lot cheaper there.

Scandalous!! That's a 3p per litre increase!
And who will be giving up their cars? No-one. Because modern living simply doesn't allow it. So pay up and enjoy paying your 80% tax for the good of the country.
