The streets are covered with dog excrement.

Have dog owners in Dawlish stopped cleaning up after their pets?

I don't think some of them even started clearing up. I have seen people with bull terriers allowing them to wee all over the pavement outside the Co-op which then gets stood in by the kids & there is worse all the way up the Strand. Park Road & Old Town Street are especially bad. People step in it after dark because they can't see it & spread it all over the place. There's no point in having a penalty if it isn't enforced.

some of us do clean up after our doggie friends but i agree some dont give 2 hoots and if you ask them to the attitudes are just as bad as the mess thier dogs leave, personally i think all dogs should be tagged etc and you should have to prove your a responable owners dont know how it work but wish it was possible as these owners give us good ones a bad name

Apparently its due to improved dog nutrition Jools88- but I'm afraid I cant recall the details!

Companies were banned from adding chalk as a bulking agaent to the food. Or so I've been told - seems as likely an explanation as anything else!

There was even a song written about it!!!! ......................

It went away, like you and me
It wasn't ours and it wasn't free
In French they say le blanc doodie
to the '70s.

What I can't understand about some of these dirty dog owners is they pick up the mess

put it in bags then chuck it in the bushes or in the trees & if you dont believe me have a walk

down the cycle track towards the warren. Dirty bleeders.

I'm not against dogs or dog owners, but why do some of them think it is ok to take up the entire pavement with them and their dog, expecting others to walk in the road?

The council should set some strict by laws to control this very selfish behaviour by some dog owners, we have all, at some time stepped in dog muck and I think we should not except it any more.

Walking up a road in Starcross yesterday I was dodging dog muck all over the pavement - and obviously from several dogs - when I noticed that I was about ten paces away from a red dog muck disposal bin! There's really NO excuse for this anti-social behaviour.

hi everyone my first comment on dawlish eye, I have three dogs and I always pick up. In the winter I think you will see more dog poo around as the mornings and evenings are so dark when people walk their dogs and they don't make an effort to see where their dog has pooed, I think their must be a way of making dog poo illuminous so you can see it in the dark (ha ha). But if it is any consolation I always pick up other peoples dog poo if I see any left behind when I'm walking in the manor.
