I would like to get up a petition for the reinstatement of the old school uniform at the new school. Smart Blazers, ties - and skirts (for the girls).

Have you seen the state of the teenagers wandering the Strand? If they were bedecked in Seattle 'Grunge' it would be better. Shapeless behemoths with neo-beehive hairdos, clad in crimplene stay-pressed action slacks and polyester sweat shirts.

Some of them are smoking - cigarettes ! They'll be trafficking heroin next in the toilets. Possibly China White variety, though I am no expert in morphine-derivatives.

If reinstatement of the old uniform is not possible then I would suggest semi-unconstructed Giorgio Armani-style black jackets, which could be run up at economical price, possibly by Doels in Teignmouth.

I am 86 years old and I have lived in Dawlish all my life.

Nice bit of post - modernist irony - well done. Love the bit about being 86.

I was walking my dog - Pickles this morning, and I saw the slogan, "Andy Loram is a bender" scribbled upon a fisherman's hut.

All people in Dawlish must exercise tolerance irrespective of the preferences of others.

Grafitti is also unacceptable - this is not Los Angeles. You don't have to be down with your "homies" in the Hood. This is Dawlish.

Our house was bombed by Zeppelins during the war you know.

Are you from Dawlish? I didn't know people in Dawlish had a sense of humour. A+
