Village Post Office Closed
The Post Office in Starcross closed on Wednesday. The owners said "It was no longer a viable business". The building is up for sale. Starcross Parish council and residents of Starcross are working closely with county councillor Alan Connett to find an alternative as soon as possible. The options are Boots, a Spar, a Fish and Chip shop and two pubs. An alternative is for it to move to the Westbank League of friends' charity shop but that may prove difficulty to fund a full-time member of staff for a local post office. Post Office managers say a new office in Starcross would not offer the same range or services as the now-closed outlet. 85per cent of services will be available but things like renewing car tax can't be done at a post office Local branch. The nearest post office for residents of Starcross is Dawlish and Kenton.
