I dont know if anybody else feels the same but this forum is getting boring with all these political threads about housing etc

How about an Occupy Dawlish Lawn movement to shake things up a bit?

@Brazilnut

These boring political threads as you put it are about the future of Dawlish.

You might find that a boring subject but others of us obviously don't and anyhow if you find a thread boring then don't read it/post on it.

Simples.

It isnt compulsory to follow the thread on housing Brazil - you are not being forced to read it or comment. Personally, I'm most definitely not bored thanks

How about a campaign to sack the England rugby coach Martin Johnson?

I suspect the reason it's becoming so stale is because there aren't enough users. The more people using it, the more varied the topics are likely to be.

No-one should be penalised for starting a topic on here if it's related to Dawlish, surely?

I've always had the impression that most of the users on here seem to know each other anyway, which can be a bit off-putting for new users.

Myrtle, you're right up to a point, I know or know by reputation a couple of users here.

It can be off-putting but rollocks to it - post anyway. If it's not varied enough then try to improve it.

Simples.

Oh, for the Backyard days of yesteryear and Viaduct, Dullish, Roy, FEL-699, Emperor Solarzoom IV, User 4549, hundreds of Anons and all the others. Where (or who) are they now? Who among the current generation can hijack any serious thread so that it denerates into a protracted slanging match over something completely different? What has happened to the (probably) alcohol fuelled late-night rants. Posters these days say things like, "This may be a bit off-topic, but..." Roddy the rooster must be spinning in his glass case at the idea of Roy asking permission to change the subject.

In those days, new posters were subjected to abuse the first time they dared to speak. It certainly was not boring. It was like visiting a zoo in which someone had released all the animals and you could spend hours watching them chase each other round and round in circles.

Wondering, Cassandra, you remember those days. Be honest. Is the forum more useful and informative now, or not?

It was an interesting spectator sport in the old days!!!

Nicer to participate in now though.

MInd you a bit of abuse now and then keeps it fresh....

Don

In the old days, there was a better class of abuse. And some of it was very funny. R.I.P. Roddy the Rooster.
