After perusing many and varied subjects, discussions, responses, etc. I have come to the conclusion that the average Pommie doesn't have a clue as to what constitutes English. The battering that this noble language suffers at the hands (tongues?) of these illiterate incompetents is almost beyond belief. I doubt whether more than 5% of writers who contribute to these pages have the least idea of spelling, grammer, or punctuation.
What a poor lot you are!

Trouble is, the forum is being used like a mobile phone text service. It takes so long to decipher the messages now it all seems pointless and I can't be bothered to read messages in this format. The alphabet is only half as long as it used to be!!

Didn't want to make you blush Dave. You're quite right about the state of literacy in the UK, not just Dawlish.

If you want to either laugh or cry at how extreme a problem this is, try looking at any auction on Ebay. I can guarantee 99% of the descriptions will have the most cringeworthy errors.

( just spent 5 minutes checking this post for grammar......think it's ok? )
