I wonder how many people have been ripped off by private land parking tickets: ie; Asda, tesco, morrisions etc; when if they ignored all the threatening letters and do not reply to any of them they will go away. These private companies have no legal standing, the clampers are now producing parking tickets ready for when clamping on private land becomes illegal.

Private Land ticket cancelled ... how many others have simply paid up?

Neil’ s reply was, in effect, “See you in court” – knowing this was a case they would not wish to see put to legal test. The debt collectors now reply that Apcoa has decided to drop the matter – just as Neil predicted. He only regrets being deprived of that test case he has long been hoping for.

Hi - Very interesting do you know how these private ticket issuers get your address details from your cars reg no. Surely DVLA records are subject to the data protection act and can only be accessed by the Police and other authorities - Thanks

Mughead, Unfortunately they can once they have registered with the DVLA and are licenced they pay DVLA for your details, they - DVLA - make about £2,500.000 a year from selling details which I and many others think is the wrong thing for them to be able to do. Its about time the government took action, but dont hold your breath

User4549 - Thanks for the clarification, this appears very similar to the way the Credit reference agencies work and get around the Data protection Act. I'm thinking this entire issue of protection for personal data needs bringing to the attention of Anne-Marie Morris and possibly the European court of human rights. The selling of personal data for profit has got to be illegal somehow

Did you vote on Thursday, User 4549? Pleased with the result or not? Clearly you're not happy with the ConDem coalition in national government, but what are your views on the local issues that REALLY matter?

AndyMac, Yes I did vote, without naming names, I did not vote for any of the old gang who in my opinion were there for their own ego or benefit. I wish the new councillors all the very best and hope they will not be bullied by some of the previous councillors who are unfortunately still there and also stand up to the Town Clerk.

I stopped going to council meetings when because they did not like some of the questions being put forward and MINUTED they changed the way the public could ask questions. If I remember correctly it was second on the agenda when the public could asked questions.

They did not have to answer the questions immediately, but it was minuted and you could expect an answer at the next full council meeting. never once did they answer the questions put to them.

Now you have to wait until the meeting has been closed to ask a question, which is not MINUTED and does not form part of the historic document.

One of my questions was why did they buy the wrong equipment -CCTV- and why did they not go back to the supplier and either get a reduction in price £80.000 or get them to replace with the correct cameras, the question was never answered.
