It’s nice to hear from councillors who have sympathy for the youth of today and, lets face it, there are not that many in Dawlish. Councillor Percy is right on her views about the new plans for the new youth facilities on two counts:
1. A five-year plan to develop the project to fruition solves nothing of the ‘problem of youths today’, and I quote this because I’m not really too sure that the problem lies with the youths; further, its probably derogatory. Have you ever met a youth at 12 and then at 17? Notice the change?
2. Youths don’t care about having fancy sports facilities & state of the art exercising equipment – this is for old people who are fat and overweight with cardiovascular problems, and who like to monitor their heart rates through techy devices for reassurance.
Youths just want to skate, swim, play football, play tennis and do all the things that come very natural to them. Remember when you were young? Maybe it was too long ago.
