Recycling charges

Well as promised the recycling centres have officially announced they are going to start charging to dump certain kinds of waste at their centres from April 1st. So much for the council tax freeze, one by one I suppose they are going to start introducing charges for various services that formerly were free to use and increase their income that way. Or taking away valuable services (eg buses)

In order to justify charging us, are they going to give us a breakdown of the cost of running the centre as opposed to the income from the proposed charges plus the revenue that they make from selling items that they salvage and sell on at ridiculous prices for the condition of the item, it annoys me that they ask so much for something that has been thrown away making them beyond affordability to the people who need to buy there. (Similar situation at re furnish, I am on a very low income and cannot afford to pay what they ask, particularly when private sellers are asking less). Some of that if one looks around is not much more new in sales etc.

What planet are these councillors on saying that charging for tipping will not increase fly tipping, and just how much will it cost them to monitor this and clear it up?

Well I will probably just put as much as I can in my black bin, until of course they start charging for emptying that too. Did I hear somewhere they were considering cahrging by bin weight? I am aware that currently the recycling centres are only charging for certain things, but am I being cynical in thinking that slowly but surely they will start introducing further charges and perhaps if they do this one by one we will not notice?

Unless these sites submit planning consent to operate as a for profit business and not just a civic amenity they will probably be acting illegally if they do try to charge you. Will have to check this one out
