Has anyone else noticed that DCC contractors have removed the 40mph signs from around the Shutterton and Sainsbury's site area.
They obviously intend to make yet another illegal reduction in the speed limit without the required traffic order and advanced notification.
Watch out for the camera partnership van hiding somewhere near in the future as this will be another money making scam especially now the holiday makers are due to return.

With construction traffic turning into the construction site and inustrial area, most of which are 8 or 6 wheeled tipper trucks which need larger turning area , any on comming vehicles need to be ready to slow and stop. A drop in speed limits are usual near construction sites.
Why do some people seem think speed limits are money making scams and not actual safety issues.
I just hope someone will tell all those heavy vehicles exceeding the 30mph along the Exeter Road to slow down.
The official reason from the highways dept will have you wondering just what a state this country is in, if you didn't already know. Here it is
" because an increasing number of people are using solicitors and technicalities like incorrect road signs to get off being convicted of speeding and other motoring offenses any wrongly written, proportioned or incorrectly sited signs have to be removed."
No apology for the incompetent and illegal sign posting in the first place.
My advice if you are sent a speeding or parking fine from anywhere in our area, pay for a solicitors letter and contest it in the first instance. The main reason for this is according to the borough solicitor if you cant be bothered and pay the fine you are immediately admitting quilt

Perhaps it would be a goood idea if people learned to drive at the official speed limit. It's not difficult to judge your speed from engine noise even if you don't want to look at the speedo.
I have totally lost patience with those who go out of their way to fight the law, whether to find parking places or speed limits when their energies ought to be spent finding ways to improve the quality of driving and care on the road.
Vanguard. Sorry have to disagree with your comment "judge you speed from engine noise" with the newer cars they are so much quieter you can hardly hear the engine noise. With regard to "fight the law" I think you will find they are fighting the lawless actions of authorities who act outside the law.
Your comment dosent really makes sense
Your expecting the general public to abide with the law, but saying its OK for the authorities to purposely flaunt the same laws in an effort to raise money by using the Police and other organizations to enforce them.
Its perfectly simple really. All roads which are not subject to the national speed limit need a restriction order granted by the Department of Transport, the same applies to a restricted parking zone. If these orders are not granted then the local authority have no legal right to enforce them.
There are also very clear rules for marking and signing these restricted areas. For example double yellow lines have to be a set dimension and a fixed color. Unfortunately DCC and others seem unable to read these instructions correctly.

The same does NOT apply to a restricted parking zone RPZ as it NOT the DfT who gives authorisation, the council have to apply to the Secretary of State I applied and received all copies of the request and the authoristation from his office, even though the site -Somerset place/Northumberland Place Teighmouth- is unlawfully marked and enforced. I have won two appeals there for friends (anybody who has received a PCN since 2008 should appeal as they have refused to reimburse automatically, their comment "people may appeal"
Just one of many faults which they have since rectified is - when entering Somerset Place from the harbour end and reach the RPZ sign infront was a marked parking bay with double yellow lines in it so you could park legally but still get a ticket, they have since blacked out the parking bay lines.

I asked the council if they would automatically reimburse (over 500 PCN's since 2008) they refused saying people may appeal, I asked how would they know, they did not answer.

There not really Black. The duck warden sprays them with black dye a bit like a spray tan. Any way they've all p***ed off to Cockwood harbour to breed. Either that or they've done the same as the local businesses and packed up and left. No cars = No business ask councillor Prowse a great supportor of Sainsbury's
Ask Prowse or Wills if they sold them like they did a couple of years ago
