Is it just me or are other Dawlish people enthusiastic about the uprisings in the middle east and the possibility that democracy could eventually filter up into western countires like the UK and Europe (and maybe even the US)? The news is full of, well, 'news' for a change and I find it really encouraging.

Whilst other countries are getting rid of their dictators and pilferers, I just watched the Hester Pig of RBS on Channel Four News explaining why he and his fellow pigs need to award themselves huge amounts of mine and your money as bonuses. Apparantly these pigs will go to Mars or some other planet if they are not awarded a billion pounds of our money in bonuses and planet earth will be doomed.

Well, I don't know if you believe any of this. I certainly do not and I am sure the highly intelligent Arabs of Egypt, Libya, Bahrain, Yemen, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Jordan and other countries in this region (many of whom were educated or influenced by us in the UK and the west) would not tollerate any of this.

Let us hope that the UK will learn from these brave people and eventually have the courage to uprise oursleves and rid our great country of the bankers that ruined and continue to ruin it at our expense.

I have to agree with stevej about the current uprisings in the middle east, I have worked out there and seen the poverty, so its not surprising when people start to rebel against these dictators who have hoarded billions away whist their people starve and suffer, after Libya who's next?, with regards to rebellion in the uk now that would be a sight! however I don't think it would ever happen and if it did it would have to be something serious i.e. rising fuel prices, immigration only time will tell!

Well said Steve Hester and his cronies need getting rid of.

Just thought if we the public own 80+% of RBS could we not insist the government sack him, must put that one to Anne-Marie Morris.

I don't think that public unrest is such a good idea in this country because all of us have to much to lose. Far better to use the system to change the system if you know what I mean.

As for those who have chosen to work in places like Libya to purposely avoid paying UK tax, how dare they complain that our government aren't doing anything to help them . That responsibility should lie with their employers out there.

The actions in the middle east are from many years of having the same dictators running those countries. Here we have the option of changing our dictators ever four years, even though we the peolpe choose to keep the same ones. Thats what we do. Those people of Egypt, Lybia, Tunisia etc did not have that choice.

As for those complaining about the governments actions and bringing them back home, I dont think those people are working out there for the national minumum wage are they, and if I had been working in Lybia, I would have got my ass out of there asoon as the troubles started in neighbouring countries, instead of hanging on til the last minute taking in the big bucks they are being payed.

We could have sent in a few Hercules to pick them up, but oh dear all our good ones are in a place called Afghanistan.

It makes me laugh seeing these British workers arriving back from Libya whinging 'It was terrible - people were killing each other' and 'our company just abandoned us'.

Where exactly do they think they have been working all these years? Did they really not understand the risks of working in the Middle East? Did they even know where they were working?
